The City of Arvada continues to urge residents, businesses and visitors to follow the mandates set out by the state and local public health agencies.

History has shown that communities with strong social connections are better equipped to recover from a major crisis. Now, more than ever, it’s important to focus on strengthening social ties and a united sense of community while remaining physically distant to work together to slow the spread of COVID-19.
This year, we challenged you to stay connected to your neighbors and nurture relationships between neighbors while being physically distant. As restrictions loosened over the year, you took the opportunity to get creative and re-imagine ways to stay connected! Here are a few ideas that we heard from you:
- Yoga or exercise classes outside
- Movie night in the park with neighbors
- Physically distant porch or driveway happy hours

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has steps you can take to protect yourself from any respiratory infection and help control community spread:
- Following physical distancing guidelines by avoiding groups and standing at least six feet from other people.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing and sneezing.
- Avoid touching your face including your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Avoid being around anyone with cold- or flu-like symptoms.
- If you are sick, stay home.
- Wear masks or face coverings (scarves, t-shirts, bandanas) whenever you are out of the house.
