What's Happening Now
- Week of August 10, 2020: Abatement activity began this week. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Schedule is subject to change.
The City of Arvada Well Site 18 (4491 W. 66th Ave) is scheduled to be demolished the summer of 2020. This well & tank site was decommissioned approximately 35 years ago when the water quality deteriorated. It is now time to demolish the concrete storage tank, remove the concrete and backfill the hole with compacted dirt. The City needs to remove the tank now before it becomes a safety hazard due to its deterioration and age.
What to expect
There are two phases of this project: asbestos abatement and demolition. We anticipate asbestos abatement to begin in mid-August and will take about 10 business days to complete. All appropriate safety precautions will be observed for abatement activities. Following abatement, demolition and restoration is scheduled to take approximately two weeks. Working hours will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays for all construction activities.
Neighbors will be affected during the demolition by noise and construction traffic. There is no way around the fact that the machinery that will be used to break up and remove the concrete will be loud. We appreciate the neighborhood’s patience with this process.
