January 22: Starting on or after Tuesday, Jan. 22, McIntyre Street traffic will shift west onto new pavement between W. 56th Place and W. 58th Avenue (map). This new configuration will be in place for several months while the contractor builds the new section of McIntyre Street on the east side of the road. Alternating traffic and flagger control will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 22.
Jefferson County and SEMA Construction will construct an additional travel lane in each direction with on-street bike lanes, turn lanes and a center median along with other improvements. For more information on the project, visit the Jefferson County website.
What to Expect
- Improvements to McIntyre Street between West 56th Place and West 58th Avenue began in July 2018 and will continue through the fall of 2019.
- Motorists should expect intermittent traffic stops and alternating lane closures for equipment access and construction adjacent to the roadway.
- Lane closures will be limited to off-peak hours (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Occasional night and weekend work is expected.
- A speed limit reduction to 25 mph will be enforced. Fines are double within the work zone. The project is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
