Regional Trails Features Planning
The City's 2016 Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan acknowledges resident feedback requesting more amenities along the City's trail network to support users of all ages and abilities. Stay tuned to share your detailed input - check back here in July 2019.
Leyden Creek Trail
In March 2019, the City completed another long-planned trail project adding to Leyden Creek Trail immediately east and west of Alkire Street. New trail length is approximately 1.25 miles, and includes concrete and soft trail west of Alkire within Youth Memorial Park, and soft trail only east of Alkire along Ward Road to Urban Way. See Photo Gallery below for new trail location map and completed trail photo.
Barbara Gulch Trail
Construction of this 1.5 mile segment of Regional Trail in Leyden Rock Open Space was completed in 2018, picking up existing trail north of W 85th Drive at Leyden Rock Drive and continuing generally westward. This trail addition was a requirement of the Leyden Rock subdivision, and was constructed in concrete with a soft trail shoulder on the uphill side. While the trail currently terminates abruptly to the west, this trail will eventually connect to other planned trails near State Highway 93. See Photo Gallery below for images.
