2019 Playground Renovations: Ralston Valley Park & Rainbow East Park
Did you know? The City of Arvada checks playgrounds across the City for accessibility and other important maintenance and safety factors as part of the City’s “Taking Lasting Care” (TLC) Program. Ralston Valley Park Playground and Rainbow East Park Playground are the 2019 priorities for complete playground replacement.
Public events to gather your initial preferences were held in each of the parks on November 10, 2018. Surveys were also available online. The City used your feedback to guide new playground designs, with follow-up events and surveys showcasing final designs based on your input in April 2019. The designs you chose are in the Photo Gallery below. Minor design revisions reflecting specific public requests received during the engagement process have been made. Arvada City Council approved the contracts to replace the playgrounds on June 17, 2019.
Rainbow East Park Playground
- Renovation underway. Expected Completion: Mid-October 2019
- The final design was chosen by the community through public engagement events, and offers themed equipment unlike anything else in Arvada. An elephant, gorilla, and a jungle cat set the stage for exciting play activities including numerous slides, unique climbers, a cozy cocoon, hangout area, and swings (2 tot, 2 belt).
Ralston Valley Park Playground
- Renovation Timeline: September 2 - October 31, 2019

The centerpiece of the design is a very tall structure with three slides including an exciting corkscrew slide, flanked by an inclusive spinner, climbing boulders, and moon rover! Swings are also included (2 tot, 2 belt).
