The City of Arvada was awarded a grant through Adams County Open Space to improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity on Tennyson Street from the Clear Creek Trail to W 64th Avenue. This project has multiple phases and the current phase is focused on a connected on road bicycle network with a combination of trails, bike lanes, and shared lane markings, and ensuring that there is at least a sidewalk on one side of the road for the entire corridor. The initial phase also includes a new crossing of Clear Creek. It is currently being studied whether or not the crossing will be a standalone bicycle/pedestrian bridge or incorporated into a new roadway bridge that Adams County is planning. More information will be provided when available.
The project is being split into two sections due to this issue, one section north of 58th Avenue and the other section south of 58th Avenue. The design for the project north of 58th Avenue will reach 90% design completion in 2021.
Download a PDF of the original 2018 grant application plan. Some design details have changed since then, but the intent for a connected bicycle and pedestrian network remains the same.
