Trees are a major part of the City’s infrastructure, providing beauty, while supporting vital ecosystems. More than 14,000 trees on City of Arvada property have been inventoried by the City's Forestry Team. This number represents all the trees planted in Parks, Athletic Fields, City Facilities, roadways, and many of the trees located in our Open Space Areas. Mulch Availability
The parks team does their best to keep free mulch available (for Arvada residents) in the parking lot of the Birds Nest Disc Golf Course in West Arvada. Mulch is available on a first come first serve basis and we don't guarantee its availability.

Tree FAQs
I live near a trail (or open space/park). When should I expect to see parks staff pruning the trees in these areas? With more than 30,000 trees on City property, maintaining them properly is a labor-intensive task. Pruning and other tree maintenance can be expected year around.
City-owned trees are overhanging my property. Can I trim them myself? Yes, you may trim City-owned trees to your property line.
My trees are overhanging City property. Is the City allowed to trim them? Yes, the City is allowed to trim resident-owned trees to our property line.
I live adjacent to a ditch. Who is responsible for the tree maintenance of the area?
If you are an adjacent landowner, the vegetation (including trees) along the ditch is your responsibility. Neither ditch companies nor municipalities generally own the land under and along the ditch. Instead, they have prescriptive easements, which allow them to dictate the use of the land within the easement. The ditch companies prioritize removal of trees and vegetation that impede water flow.
