City Announces New Public Works Director

Jacqueline Rhoades has been named Arvada’s new Director of Public Works. In this role, Ms. Rhoades will provide overall leadership and direction for the Department and its divisions: street maintenance, traffic engineering, engineering, facilities management and mobility planning. Ms. Rhoades is a professional engineer experienced in infrastructure project planning and delivery. Prior to being selected as the Public Works Director, Ms. Rhoades served as Arvada’s City Engineer, responsible for overseeing the construction of public improvements in the City's rights-of-way and delivery of the division's projects in the Capital Improvement Plan.

City Manager, Lorie Gillis stated, “Jacqueline’s leadership of the Engineering Division has been exceptional. She will continue to lead the Public Works Department with a focus on successfully delivering the bond projects and other important infrastructure capital improvement projects.”

Before joining the City of Arvada, Ms. Rhoades worked as an engineering consultant and water practice leader conducting planning, research and project management for municipalities across the west. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona.

“I'm beyond excited to work with an incredibly talented and hard-working team. It is a privilege to deliver core services for our community, providing infrastructure that will serve today and the next generations of Arvadans,” said Ms. Rhoades.

Ms. Rhoades is a proud Arvada resident, who, along with her husband and three daughters, enjoys soaking up sunshine, while exploring Colorado’s waterways and mountains.

Rhoades replaces Don Wick, who was recently appointed as the Deputy City Manager.
