Volunteers Needed for Homeless Count

Each year, the Metro Denver Homeless Initiaitive conducts an Everyone Counts "Point in Time" survey to determine the number of those experiencing homelessness in our communities. One of the ways the City of Arvada supports finding solutions to the important community issue of homelessness in Arvada is by participating in the Comprehensive Homeless Count. This year, your help is needed more than ever!

Volunteer for the 2022 Point In Time Count

Heading Home is recruiting volunteers for the 2022 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count to conduct interviews with homeless individuals and families in emergency shelters, human service organizations, parks, riverbeds, and other places where unhoused residents congregate.

SIGN UP HERE Application deadline is Jan. 19, and volunteers need to complete a brief online recorded training and short quiz by Jan. 21.

  • WHAT: The PIT Count generates an annual snapshot of homelessness on a single night, and raises public awareness, promotes collaboration across seven counties, provides needed data, helps to apply for funding, and reminds the community that everyone counts!
  • WHEN: The 2022 PIT Count begins on Jan. 24 and continues for 24 hours, through Jan. 25. You’ll select your preferred shifts on the volunteer registration form.
  • HOW: Jeffco’s methodology this year will be to conduct a full census count (interviews) with the ability to count by observation only for those who cannot otherwise be interviewed. Volunteers may choose to participate with your self-identified pod/group of people OR you will be paired with another fully vaccinated person(s). You’ll select your preference on the registration form.  Lastly, volunteers will interview persons using a standardized app-based survey designed for easy access on your smartphone.
  • WHERE: Volunteers will be deployed throughout Jeffco based on the geographic preference selected on the registration form.

SIGN UP HERE Application deadline is Jan. 19, and volunteers need to complete a brief online recorded training and short quiz by Jan. 21.

COVID policies: Survey volunteers in the 2022 Count will be required to provide proof of full vaccination prior to the count to ensure we keep all our neighbors safe. Once you register, you’ll receive more information on this.

Training & Orientation: PIT Count volunteers are required to complete a brief virtual training and short quiz at the end to ensure we all take the same approach to counting and can rely on the data we collect. Registered volunteers will receive this information via email.
