The City of Arvada utilizes long-range planning for each of the City's major operating funds. Specifically, the City prepares a two-year budget and a ten-year financial plan. This method of budgeting is used to determine if future impacts of the current proposed budget are fiscally sound. City Council's adopted budget and fiscal policies require minimum fund balances in each of the major operating funds be maintained. Using the ten-year models, the City is able to test the effects of current financial decisions on future years' financial conditions when approving funding requests throughout the organization.
