Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates

The City of Arvada does not issue birth, death, or marriage certificates. Vital records are typically managed by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and County Vital Records offices.

Ordering Certificates or Certified Copies

Although we provide free notary services for other documents, we are prohibited by law for us to issue certified copies of birth, death, or marriage certificates. Certified copies must be obtained through whoever originally issued the document.

Birth and Death

You can order an official Colorado birth or death certificate online, by phone, or by mail through the   Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. For out-of-state certificates, you will need to contact the state that issued the documents. Copies may sometimes be obtained through county Vital Records offices.

Marriage and Divorce

The State can provide a verification of marriage and divorce certificates. To obtain a copy of an original certificate, you will need to contact the issuer of the document. County Clerk and Recorders can provide marriage or civil union license copies. County District Courts can provide certified copies of divorce decrees.
