Permits and inspections for the installation, repair or disconnects of water and sewer services are required by the City of Arvada. Please review the guidelines below before applying for your permit.
Is a contractor’s license required?
Yes. A contractor with a Municipal General Contractor license or a Licensed Plumber (through the City of Arvada Building Department) can install sewer and water services within the property. If the project requires a repair or disconnect to the main (in the street or sidewalk), that work must be performed by a Municipal General Contractor. The Municipal General Contractor license must be obtained through the City of Arvada Engineering Division, please visit our licensing page for more information.
How to apply and permit review
Applications are submitted electronically using the customer service portal, http://arvadapermits.org/etrakit3/. Electronic applications are only available to licensed contractors. There will be a minimum 1 business day processing review on each permit, a WTR SWR Service permit must be paid for and issued before work can begin. For permits requiring a street cut, there is a 1-3 business day processing review. Once the review is completed, the applicant will be notified via email when the permit is approved and ready for payment, all payments can be made online at www.arvadapermits.org.
Important Information for Submitting an Application

The Colorado 811 locate confirmation number must be entered on all applications.

If installing new services (Sewer and Water) for new commercial and new homes from the tap/meter to 5' out from the building, you must confirm that the building permit has an ISSUED status before you submit your application. If the building permit is not issued, your application will not be reviewed. Use arvadapermits.org to search for the building permit by address.

If you will be cutting into the street, provide the cut size dimensions (L x W) and a traffic control plan.
Fees
Fees for repairing or installing water and sewer lines are dependent on the work to be done plus sales and use tax will be applied based on the job value. Please see the Right of Way Fees under “resources” for a list of fees. Credit card payments can be made online at arvadapermits.org once the permit is approved. Payments by cash or check can be made by making arrangements with the Engineering staff by calling 720-898-7640 during normal business hours.
Inspections
Inspections are completed on a daily basis Monday through Friday between 8am and 3pm, and must be scheduled online by 6 a.m. of the desired day of inspection. To schedule inspections please visit www.arvadapermits.org/etrakit3/ and login with your Arvada Contractor license (AEC #) and password.

Work that will be inspected during non-city business hours needs to be requested and approved. Please send your inspection requests to engineeringpermits@arvada.org at least 1 business day prior to your desired work date.

All statuses of inspections and inspection notes are available on http://arvadapermits.org/etrakit3 by logging into your account and clicking on the permit number and then selecting the inspections tab. On completion of every inspection, an email will be sent to the contractor with an update of the inspection results.
Closing the Permit
The permit will be closed once the inspector has determined that the work has been approved and has finaled the inspections. Please review www.arvadapermits.org for updates. Permits with asphalt or concrete patching will be subjected to a two year review. If repairs are required, the contractor will be required to complete the repair within 14 days of notice.
Warranty for asphalt and concrete restoration
A final warranty inspection will be completed for asphalt and concrete restoration if applicable within 1 year and 10 months of closing this permit. The contractor will be notified by the City of Arvada Engineering Division if repairs must be made prior to final acceptance of work.
