Protests and Claims

Solicitation or Award Protest Information

If you are a bidder who is dissatisfied by the award of a contract (or approval of a purchase order) by the city, you may protest that award. To file a protest, you must first file a written informal award protest with the purchasing manager under Arvada City Code §82-82. If you are dissatisfied with the decision of the purchasing manager and wish to continue with your protest of the award, you must then complete and return the  Formal Award Protest Form.

There are strict time deadlines for filing your written informal award protest notice and for filing the formal award protest form. If you wish to protest an award, please do not delay in filing the required informal protest or formal award protest form.

If you are a contractor with a claim against the city you must file a contract claim—not an award protest). Please see the Contract Claim Information.

If you have any questions, please contact the purchasing office.

Contract Claim Information

If you are a contractor who has a contract performance or payment issue that is caused by the city, you may file a claim against the city. To file a claim, you must first file a written informal contract claim dispute notice with the purchasing manager under Arvada City Code §82-93. If you are dissatisfied with the decision of the purchasing manager and wish to continue to pursue your claim, you must then complete and return the  Formal Contract Claim Form. You may also expressly authorize another person to act on your behalf in filing a claim. Remember, you must be a contractor who is a party to a signed contract (or approved purchase order) in order to file an informal contract claim dispute notice or a formal contract claim.

There are strict time deadlines for filing your written informal contract claim dispute notice and for filing the formal contract claim form. If you believe you have a claim, please do not delay in filing the required informal contract dispute notice or formal contract claim form.

If you are a bidder wishing to protest an award of a contract (or approval of a purchase order) by the city, you must file a protest of that award—not a contract claim. Please see the Contract Award Protest Information.
