The City of Arvada requires all businesses located within the City to have a business license, including service based businesses. If a business comes into Arvada and sells, leases, rents, delivers or installs tangible personal property they are required to have a business license as they are considered to be "engaged in business."
Based on the nature of the business, a Sales and Use Tax return will need to be filed on either a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis. If no tax is due, a zero tax return must still be filed for the period. Filing frequency is determined
If you cease doing business in Arvada or the business is sold, the Revenue Division should be notified within 10 days along with a final tax return. Ownership changes require a new business license as the license is not transferable.
As a business licensed with the City of Arvada, it's important that we have the most current information for the business. Changes or updates should be made by using the online form located at: http://arvada.org/business/business-licensing-resources/license-tools
Please note that any in-city business that relocates is subject to approval based on the type of business and area zoning. If you need additional zoning information, please contact Planning at 720-898-7470.
Special events are licensed at the event level, so individual participants do not require their own business license. The event coordinator is responsible for submitting a special event application, distributing Special Event forms, and providing a list of participants and their contact information to the Revenue contact.
