Following a national search and rigorous selection process, the Arvada City Council has appointed Lorie Gillis as Arvada’s next city manager. The appointment was a unanimous decision. Ms. Gillis will begin serving in her new role on Oct. 7. She will be the first female to hold the city manager position in Arvada.
About Lorie Gillis
Lorie Gillis has been serving as the Deputy City Manager with the City of Arvada since 2014. Prior to Lorie working at the City of Arvada, she held roles with Jefferson County Schools to include, Chief Financial Officer (2004-2014) and Executive Director Budget Management and Development (2002-2004). Ms. Gillis also worked at City of Golden as the Director of Finance and Administration from 1996-2002. Ms. Gillis has a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Business Administration, a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership - Applied Business Management from Colorado State University Global Campus, and most recently attended John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Executive Education, where she was awarded a certificate of completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
Reporting to the City Council, the City Manager provides strategic and forward-looking leadership to the entire City team within the five priority areas/work systems: Safe Community, Organizational and Service Effectiveness, Vibrant Community and Neighborhoods, Community and Economic Development and Infrastructure to ensure appropriate and effective resource allocation supporting the Council Strategic Plan.
