Effective February 15, 2021: In preparation of moving to MUNIRevs, our new paperless, tax collection and business licensing system, business license applications and changes cannot be processed in our current system. You may submit your information now, but all information will be held for processing until after March 1. Alternatively, you may wait to submit your business license requests in the new system beginning on March 1, 2021. A link will be provided when the new system is available.
If you are planning on renting out a room or other accommodations for overnight stays of less than 30 days then you are required to hold a short term rental business license. You will also be required to collect and remit 5.46% of the price paid for the rental to the City of Arvada; 2% lodgers tax and 3.46% sales tax.
To become compliant as a short term rental host, you will need to apply for an annual license and pay an annual fee of $100. The initial short term license can be applied for online here. After you have applied for the short term license, please apply for a business license. Arvada staff will work together to validate your short term license and business license approvals. Once they are approved you will be issued a business license and a lodgers and sales tax account where you can record and remit tax.
