While most of us were snug in our beds earlier this week, a crew from the City’s Water Operations Division was making sure that residents in the vicinity of W. 75th Ave. and Teller Street would be able to take showers in the morning, rather than wake up to flooded basements.
At approximately 6 p.m. on February 3, the City was notified of a water leak in an area where a serious break had occurred early in December. Upon inspection, the technician noted the leak worsening, and a full crew was dispatched to repair a valve. During the repair process, two additional leaks surfaced, and the crew discovered a 20-foot section of pipe in danger of complete failure. The crew worked all night to complete the repairs, and by the time they were finished the next morning, they had gone some 26 hours without sleep but succeeded in preventing an imminent water main failure! This entire section of water main will be replaced as part of the City’s 2015 Infrastructure Replacement Program. Please note, contact # for the City's after-hours Water Operations Division is 720-898-7820.
