Arvada, CO ……Burton “Burt” Knight has been named Arvada’s new Director of Public Works.
Knight replaces Bob Manwaring, who retired on August 10. Knight’s first day with Arvada will be September 10.
Burt Knight brings 34 years of municipal engineering experience to Arvada. He is currently the Director of the City of Greeley’s Water and Sewer Department, and prior to that, served as the City and County Engineer for the City and County of Broomfield. However, he has lived in Arvada the entire time.
“I am very excited to join the City of Arvada team,” Knight stated. “During the interview process I could see the talent and professionalism of the organization. For me, it will be quite special to work for my community that I have loved living in the last 34 years.”
Knight holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and has completed Masters Degree courses in environmental engineering including water and wastewater treatment, groundwater hydrology and contamination, and microbial engineering and bioremediation.
Arvada’s Public Works (PW) Director plays a key role in strategic planning and policy development for the City of Arvada and leads such efforts for the PW Department. The Director provides overall leadership and direction for the Department and its divisions: street maintenance, traffic engineering, PW administration, engineering, facilities, and GEO data services.
