The City of Arvada is pleased to announce Ben Irwin as the City’s new Communications Manager. Irwin was selected from a pool of nearly 140 qualified candidates, which included applicants from the entire Rocky Mountain Region.
Irwin’s extensive communications experience includes nearly 20 years providing communications strategy, writing and editing, design, and digital communications expertise to the public sector, making him the standout choice for Arvada.
“Ben will be a great addition to our Communications Team and our Leadership Team” said Mark Deven, Arvada City Manager. “We believe Ben will be very instrumental in helping us achieve greater success in terms of engagement and two-way communication with Arvada residents.”
Irwin most recently served as the Deputy Communication Director at the City of Boulder. Prior to serving as Deputy Director, he managed communications for Boulder’s Public Works and Planning departments. Additionally, Irwin has served as a communications consultant for the U.S. Department of Transportation, and as a federal employee with the Census Bureau and the National Archives and Records Administration. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Studio Art from the University of Iowa and a Master of Public Administration degree from Northeastern University.
“I am grateful to be able to serve my community and to join the talented and dedicated City of Arvada staff,” said Irwin. “This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape communications to best support Arvada’s bright future.” Irwin, along with his wife and daughter, is a proud Arvada resident.
