In August of 2017, the groundbreaking ceremony for Fitzmorris Recreation Center took place, and now less than one year later, that facility is set to open. The Fitzmorris Recreation Center located at  Independence St. and W. 62nd Pl. represents a powerful example of community and local governments working together. Voters passed the 2016 Apex PRD bond issue, which, in part, funded the project; the community participated in the design of the facility; the City of Arvada contributed just over $3 million in additional funding; and Jeffco Public Schools shared the land for the facility to become part of the Fitzmorris Elementary School campus.

The 8,500+ sq. ft. facility, which includes a six-lane outdoor pool, will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, June 23. Mayor Marc Williams and other Councilmembers will participate in the celebration. The public is welcome to attend.
