It is with great pride that we announce that the City of Arvada is a winner in the 2014 American Public Works Association Colorado Chapter Awards Program. Arvada will be honored at the annual awards luncheon on October 14 for the Garrison Street/Ralston Central Park project in the category of Environment: large community. A summary of the two page award application reads:
The City of Arvada, faced with the need to complete a major flood control project that would significantly alter a popular Arvada park, utilized the opportunity to completely revitalize an aging part of the community. The drainage project was substantially completed in summer of 2013, just ahead of a 1,000 year rain event (September of 2013) saving hundreds of homes and businesses from damage. The new park, complete with state-of-the-art splash pad, opened in June of 2014 and has been wildly popular with the community.
