March 4, 2016 Arvada, CO….. Christine Koch, City Clerk since 1994, officially retired from the City on March 4.Kristen Rush, who has served alongside Koch as Deputy City Clerk since 1994, has been promoted to City Clerk.

Koch, who was recently named ‘Clerk of the Year’ by the Colorado Municipal Clerks Association, has earned a reputation of incredible competence and efficiency, not just at the City of Arvada but across the state of Colorado.  In 2014, she became the first municipal clerk in Colorado to be recognized as an Athenian Leadership Society Fellow from the Athenian Leadership Society, an advanced International Institute of Municipal Clerks’ Leadership Development Program.

City Manager Mark Deven stated, “Chris has made a strong impact on Arvada.  Due to the many systems and processes that she has put into place, agendas, postings, records management, ballot preparation, passport applications, and much more appear to those outside the clerk’s office as effortless.”

Mayor Marc Williams added, “Chris Koch has been a wonderful City Clerk who has always been professional and helpful to our citizens, other staff, candidates, and elected officials. If you looked in the dictionary under ‘Great City Clerks,’ there would  be a picture of Chris.”

Chris and her husband Rick have three children and eight grandchildren, and she is looking forward to spending more time with family.  But, she says, “I couldn’t have asked for a better, more fulfilling career than I have experienced with Arvada, and I will miss all the people associated with this great organization and the community.”

“Kristen has managed our liquor licensing process in a manner that is fair, efficient, and effective,” Deven said.  “She has been working closely with Chris in preparation for the day she assumes full responsibility for the City Clerk's office, and is ready to be our City Clerk.”
