Body Found in Ralston Creek in Arvada (06-16-09)

A citizen called the Arvada Police Department about a body found in Ralston Creek in the area of Brooks Drive and Holland Street just after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.  A young male's body was found in the water and pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner

The portion of Ralston Creek where the body was located is behind the Safeway grocery store.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as Brandon DeHerrera.  He was 17-years old and had been reported as a runaway prior to his death. 

No foul play is suspected.  Preliminary results have led investigators to believe the death was drowning, but all possibilities are being considered, including whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the teen's death.

DeHerrera may have been in the water as long as 18 hours.
