(Arvada, CO) -- To help combat crime in the community, the Arvada Police Department’s Community Response Impact Team (CRIT) is offering two free classes in the Fall.
On Tuesday, September 15 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., CRIT will host a Crime Prevention Class at the West Woods Community Station (6644 Kendrick Dr.). This class gives homeowners important tips designed to keep them and their homes safe.
Topics covered include reporting a crime, vacation safety tips, protecting your neighborhood and how to be a good witness among others. Each session includes a Q&A session. The West Woods class will also cover crime and statistics in Arvada and work with residents to address their concerns.
On Tuesday, October 20 from 8 a.m. – 1p.m., CRIT will host a Crime Free Multi-Housing Class. The class will also be held at the West Woods Community Station. Designed specifically for multi-housing units and multi-tenant building owners/landlords, participants learn important ways to make rental properties and multi-tenant buildings safer. Topics covered in this class include methods of landscaping and other design factors to help keep criminals and criminal activity away.
The class explains ways to work with police to make rental properties safer. Other topics covered include gang activity, graffiti and narcotics. Members of CRIT will also be available to answer questions.
