Arvada Police Launch Social Media Distracted Driver Campaign

The Arvada Police are launching a distracted driving awareness campaign after 228 accidents in a five-week time frame, more than half of them caused by distracted driving.

In the western part of the city, or Charlie sector, 57 accidents occurred between May1 and June 10. In northern Arvada, Adam Sector, there were 64 and in central Arvada, or Baker sector which includes I-70 and Wadsworth, there were 107 accidents. Of the 228 accidents, 117 of them were caused by distracted driving.

“Distracted driving includes eating, playing with the radio in your car, and cell phone use,” said Sergeant Eric Kellogg of Charlie sector. “Taking your eyes off the road for even a second can be dangerous.”

Please follow the Arvada Police on Facebook ( or Twitter ( for more information.

Arvada residents and visitors are asked to stay alert and focused when driving. Let's keep it safe for everyone.
