Arvada Citizen Police Academy graduates were honored as the Alumni Association of the Year at the Peacekeepers of the West National Conference in Golden this past spring.

Members of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association of Arvada (CPAAA) was recognized because of their invaluable assistance in planning and promoting the Peacekeepers conference, support of the Citizens Police Academy concept for the past 10 years and ongoing partnership with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association (JEFFCO CA3) and other metro area CPA alumni groups. Accepting the award was past-chair Normalee Lee and current chair Jentry Kendall, both Arvada CPA graduates and current volunteers with the Arvada Police Department.

CPAAA members provide thousands of hours of volunteer service to the Arvada Police Department each year. Detailing police cars, serving at Ralston House to assist families impacted by physical and sexual abuse, providing administrative support to various work groups and even donning costumes such as McGruff the Crime Dog at community events are just a handful of the many areas CPAAA members assist the police department.

“The CPAAA has had a significant impact on our police department and the community as a whole,” said Police Chief, Don Wick. “We are very fortunate this diverse and talented group of Arvada residents have chosen to dedicate so much of their time to assist members of our organization.”
