Arvada's Streets Division was put to the test, literally, at the 2012 National American Snow and Ice Conference and National Snow Roadeo in Estes Park. The Snow Roadeo is a national competition where states send their best equipment operators to compete head to head. This year brought together 178 competitors from 38 cities, counties and states.
Arvada turned in a stellar performance, plowing its way to the top spot in the Single Axle Competition. Jeff Nelson and Ben Sawaya placed 1st in this team event where the two people take turns driving, one takes a written test and the other completes a diagnostic test.
In addition, Anthony Jackson placed second and Andy Stephens placed third in the Chains On/Chains Off competition. This event requires the contestants to chain up a Single Axle Plow Truck on both sides. It is a timed event requiring them to pick up the chains, put them on each side, get into the truck, pull the truck forward 30 feet, have the chains checked for tightness, pull back 30 feet, remove the chains and haul them back to the side.
The skills and knowledge of our Arvada Streets Division is nothing less than exemplary! Congratulations to these incredible competitors for their national recognition.
