Open Ralston Road Phase 2 - Olde Wadsworth to Carr St, August 1, 2022 in large playerIn the November 6, 2018 election, Arvada residents approved Ballot Issue 3F for a bond issue to fund improvements to Ralston Road and W. 72nd Ave. Ralston Road is an arterial roadway and a major east-west corridor for Arvada’s transportation network, serving 23,000 vehicle trips each day. It provides connectivity to major north-south corridors including three State Highways (SH-95/Sheridan Blvd., SH-121/Wadsworth Blvd., and SH-72/Ward Road) and Regional Transportation District (RTD) operates five bus lines using portions of Ralston Road. The improvements this project is intended to accomplish are: Creation of 8-foot wide pedestrian path (similar to a trail), allowing cyclists access to parks and trails. Widen the existing 9 foot vehicle travel lanes to 11 feet to help decrease sideswipe accidents. Installation of gutter pans to provide an additional 1 feet of space for the accumulation of rain, snow, and debris outside of the travel lanes. Widen the center two-way-left-turn lane to 12 feet to increase driver safety/comfort while stopped between passing vehicles. Reconstruction of aging traffic signals with new technology to improve traffic progression.

The City of Arvada is divided into four Council districts. Residents of each district elect a council member who lives within the district and represents the concerns of that district. The Mayor and two other councilmembers are elected "at large," meaning that they represent the entire City of Arvada rather than a specific area or District. The City Manager's Office supervises implementation of policy and procedure as directed by the City Council.
