What Happens If the Beltway Is Not Completed?

• If the project is not built, existing traffic volumes on Indiana Street double by 2030 and traffic on other streets and highways also increase significantly. 
  
• However, the first facet of the purpose and need for this facility is completing the national highway system; second is to accommodate regional travel demand.  The attachment entitled “Travel Paths” demonstrates that the need is regionally based.  Traffic on local streets and state highways in the study area does occur, but does not constitute the primary need for the facility.
