Northwest Corridor (Beltway) Transportation Study
The Northwest Corridor Environmental Impact Statement project team, studying the completion of the final link in the 470 beltway, has reduced the alternatives to five. Of those, one is the "No Build" alternative and the other four are tolled and free beltway alignments that complete the link using State Highway 93 as the primary corridor. Alternatives using Indiana and McIntyre to complete the beltway link have been screened from the study for now. One alternative package does include the expansion of Indiana through Arvada to a four lane arterial not an actual beltway link.
Even though the beltway alignments on Indiana and McIntyre are not under consideration at this time, they are not completely eliminated. It is still possible that they can be re-introduced into the study if a compelling reason develops.
City Council strongly opposes any highway alignment that traverses the populated areas of Arvada and has adopted a highway corridor, similar to the alternatives under consideration by CDOT.
We must continue to monitor this project and work together to make sure CDOT is aware of our desire to see the beltway constructed outside the populated areas of Arvada as it has been planned for over 40 years.
