Arvada Adopts Preferred Alignment for Metro Beltway Completion

On June 7, 2004 the City Council ratified a May 4, 2004 Planning Commission resolution endorsing a preferred alignment for the Arvada segment of the metro beltway on the far western edge of the City.

The completion of the beltway has long been advocated by the City Council in order to prevent local streets from becoming de-facto missing links in the regional transportation system. With the recent completion of the Northwest Parkway, thus completing 7/8 of the metro beltway, additional regional traffic seeking to move between the Northwest Parkway and C-470 has been placed on local Arvada streets.

This adopted alignment has been included in the City's Comprehensive Plan and was created to establish an alignment that would provide minimal disruption to residents and businesses. This information will also be submitted as a part of the CDOT Northwest Corridor EIS process that is currently underway.
