Animals

It is the policy of the Arvada Police Department to respond to animal related complaints received by the department and to promote responsible pet ownership through enforcement, mediation, and education.

A formula developed by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and statistics compiled from the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association 2003-2004 National Pet Owners Survey estimate 39% of U.S. households own on average own 1.6 dogs and 34% of U.S. households own on average 2.2 cats. The City of Arvada has 41,428 households as reported by the 2004 Arvada Economic Profile. This would indicate Arvada’s dog and cat estimated population are 25,851 and 30,989 respectively.
