Drug Take Back

The 2018 event was held April 14. Please check back early next year for the 2019 date.

The Northey Foundation partners with the Arvada Police Department to offer metro area residents a Drug Take Back Event on the second Saturday in April. This is a free event; however, donations are accepted and benefit the Foundation which provides scholarships to college-bound Arvada high school students, and helps families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty. Generous underwriting by local businesses results in all donations directly benefiting the Foundation.

When over-the-counter or prescription medications are expired or no longer needed, they should be removed from the home. Many people believe that the best way to dispose of unused or expired medications is to flush them down the toilet. However, this pollutes our waterways and adversely affects wildlife and plant life along our streams and rivers.

The Drug Take Back program gives residents a safe way to dispose of these types of medications. Simply gather up your unused, unwanted and expired medications and bring them to the Arvada Police Headquarters parking lot, where you can drive up, hand off and drive away.

Some of the items that can be collected include prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, pet medications or lotions. Below is a list of items that can and cannot be accepted:
