Are you between the ages of 15 and 21?
Are you interested in a career in law enforcement?
Then the Arvada Police Department has a program for you.
The Explorer's Post is comprised of young men and women who come together every second and fourth Thursday night to get a hands-on look at policing.
As an Explorer, you will learn about high-risk traffic stops, investigating traffic accidents, marksmanship skills and even participate in ride-alongs with members of the Arvada Police Department.
In addition to the numerous training opportunities offered, the Explorer Scouts make a valuable contribution to the Arvada Police Department and the City of Arvada through their volunteer work. The Explorers provide assistance with various City functions, including the Fourth of July Celebration, Kite Festival, Northey Foundation Drug Take Back, Shred-A-Thon and Annual Secrest Bike Rodeo. Explorers are often asked to help with parking at the Arvada concerts as well as assisting the liquor enforcement unit with liquor stings.
As an Explorer, you are also eligible to apply for a college scholarship of up to $2,000 through the W. Michael Northey Foundation.
An application to the Explorer program may be picked up at any of the three Arvada Police Stations. For more information about the department's Explorer's Post, contact Sgt. Eric Kellogg at 720-898-6841 or email@example.com, or Officer Dennis Sauter at 720-898-6503 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
