Skate Park Grand Opening

The City of Arvada is poised to dedicate one of the most unique and exciting public skateparks in the United States on Saturday, June 2nd.  The state-of-the-art 40,000 s/ft skatepark is the result of a remarkable partnership of individuals, organizations and skateboard enthusiasts in the community, including the City of Arvada, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Jefferson County Open Space, Apex Park & Recreation District, Conservation Trust Fund, Tony Hawk Foundation, and a local skatepark committee that formed over four years ago to advocate for the park.  Team Pain, an award winning design/build company based in Florida, was hired to design and build the skatepark elements, while DHM Design of Denver crafted the master plan for the site.  Urban Farmer, another local company, completed the landscape for the overall site elements.  Mike Lee, Park & Urban Design Manager, served as project manager for design and implementation of the skatepark and coordinated City staff efforts across departments to make it happen.  Gordon Reusink, Manager of Parks, Golf & Hospitality Services for the City of Arvada, worked hard since inception of the project to make the skatepark a high priority for the citizens of Arvada.
The $2.1 million project was funded with approximately 93% grant funding and 7% City general fund monies.  The park offers something for everyone, from beginners to world-class competitors and has already put Arvada on the map on the national skateboarding scene!

The 6-acre skate park is nestled within the Gibbs West Park and is showcased to be unique, attractive, diverse and beautiful! Arvada Skate Park offers the longest snake run in Colorado which equals an exciting skating experience for you! There are advanced and intermediate bowls, a beginners area and a street course. Skateboarders, in-line skaters, BMX and kick scooter riders are all invited to enjoy this wonderful new park. Definitely a must-see skate park! So grab your friends, grab your family or just enjoy the park by yourself, but make sure you stop by!

 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Arvada Skate Park Ribbon Cutting is a one day event to celebrate and acknowledge community sponsorships, contributors and volunteers and we want YOU to join us in celebrating! Experience this opportunity to “turn over” the park to the community, participate in a skateboarding clinic, watch demonstrations and join the family for kids' games and family-friendly entertainment. Arvada Skate Park will welcome several professional skaters to help make this a special, one-day, “Grand Opening”. The mission is to celebrate the skaters and make it non-intimidating for families and those not familiar with the skate community. In addition to the skating activities, there will be food vendors, photographs and t-shirts for sale.
