Arvada Teens Injured in Rollover Accident

A group of Arvada West High School students on their lunch hour were injured when the pick-up truck they were in rolled near the intersection of West 62nd Avenue and Ward in Arvada on Thursday September 21, 2007 just after 1:00 p.m.

The 17-year old male driver of the older model Toyota pick-up truck (with a shell over the bed) attempted to turn from southbound Ward Road onto eastbound 62nd Avenue and rolled the vehicle.

Although the investigation is preliminary, it appears that speed may have been a factor in the accident.

There were eight teens inside the vehicle – four (4) in the front of the cab and four (4) in the bed of the truck. (There were a total of eight teens in the truck: five boys.)

Two teens were taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital Central with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two teens were taken to Lutheran Hospital with non-life-threatening injures.

Four teens were either uninjured or treated at the scene of the accident.

Charges are pending against the 17-year-old driver while police investigate the accident.
