The need for technology services for the City has grown over the years to provide more efficient and effective use of city resources.

Imagine what city services would be like with out the benefits of electronic communications such as email, telephones, dispatch radios or automation that enables City staff to be more productive!

The department that handles and supports technology services is the “Information Technology Department.”

This department provides value by:

• Serving the community in supporting the technology needed for Public Safety (Police Department) 
• Serving the community in supporting the technology needed for City owned websites.
• Serving the community in supporting the technology needed for Financial Management systems involving Sales Tax, Water Billing, Budget, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting and Audits.
• Serving the community in supporting the technology needed for Communications Systems involving internal E-mail and phone systems. 
• Serving the community in supporting services needed for all internal mail, copy, print and reception.

Michele Hovet is the Department Director.

Presently, the staffing consists of thirty team members.

Project Management

The City of Arvada has developed and matured repeatable Project Management and Project Governance Processes to oversee all IT Projects.  All IT Projects must be prioritized and approved by a steering committee before work can start on the project.  Once approved, the project is managed using the City's standard project methodology.  Below, are examples of documents used in the IT Project Management and Governance processes:
