Building Code Advisory Board

The Building Code Advisory Board (BCAB) reviews the proposed building codes when the new editions are being prepared for adoption and advises the building official on the building code and related matters.  The board hears and decides appeals of written correction notices.  They review requests for use of alternate materials, design, or methods of construction, when those requests are disapproved by the building official.  The board will hear appeals by licensed contractors when there is a violation of the contractors licensing ordinance that may result in an emergency suspension of a contractor's license, a decision to deny issuance of a contractor's license or not renew a license.  Should violations be found, the board will hold hearings or other proceedings as set forth in the city code and determine the most appropriate penalty.  The board meets as needed, a few times per year.  This is a volunteer appointment.  Terms are for two years.
