News and Updates
City Council ratified the Compehensive Plan on October 6, 2014 after a public meeting. Council made two changes to the Plan as follows:
- The southwest and southeast corners of 72nd Avenue and Indiana Street will be changed from Medium Density to Suburban Density.
- The Mixed-Use Area shown along Ralston Road will be removed and replaced with Neighborhood and Community Commercial.
The final Plan will soon be published and available at Arvada.org
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
The Arvada Comprehensive Plan is the City’s guiding policy document with respect to how the community should develop in the future. It is used by the City in reviewing land use proposals and serves as a guide in public investment decisions over a 5 - 7 year period. The Comprehensive Plan is updated every few years to take into account changing economic and demographic conditions and issues facing the City in the future. The first plan was adopted in 1964 and since that time, the plan has been amended five times
