Many household chemicals pose serious health risks if not properly handled, stored, and disposed of. It has never been easier to remove these hazards from your home.

Household Hazardous Waste Types

The following chemicals pose a threat to sanitation workers and anyone who comes in contact with them. These chemicals may also threaten ground water and the environment at the landfill.

  • Moth Balls
  • Oven Cleaners
  • Paints
  • Paint Thinner / Remover
  • Petroleum Products
  • Photography Chemicals
  • Radiator Flushes
  • Rodent Poison
  • Rug Cleaners
  • Rust Removers
  • Silver Cleaners
  • Spot Removers
  • Toilet Bowl Cleaners

Some wastes cannot be accepted at the Rooney Road Recycling Center, including:

  • Radioactive Materials
  • Biological / Medical Wastes (contact your medical provider)
  • Explosives / Ammunition / Fireworks
  • Compressed Gas Cylinders
  • Wastes Generated by Businesses
