Festival of Scarecrows

It's Scarecrow Time! Come join the free family fun!
Scarecrows in many forms have been around since the Egyptians. Throughout history, scarecrows have been a part of harvest activities and fall. Fall would not be complete without The Festivals of Scarecrows, which takes place early October. Join other enthusiastic fans to celebrate fall with costumed scarecrows of all shapes and sizes in Olde Town. With new activities, there is something for the entire family to enjoy, including:
* The Scarecrow Contest: Lots of scarecrows scattered throughout Olde Town waiting for admiring visitors to vote on their favorites. Prizes in several categories go to the winning individuals, organizations and businesses who entered scarecrows. Call 303-420-6100 to enter your scarecrow.
* 57th Kids Street: Kids fun stuff including inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists and booths.
* The Pumpkin Patch: Buy your pumpkins at Olde Town Square which is filled with pumpkins of all sizes. Paint your purchase with a spooky or silly face or take it home with you. Proceeds donated to the Arvada Community Food Bank.
* The Giant Pumpkin Contest: Always a favorite with giant pumpkins displayed by amateur and experienced gardeners for the dramatic weigh-in by the Arvada Gardeners at 1:30.
* The Costumed Kids Parade: Brewster, the Giant Green Dinosaur (from Coors Credit Union) leads excited little ghosts and goblins around OldeTown Square. Every kid who parades gets a goodie bag!
* The Kiddies Corn Stalk Maze: Little ones weave in and out and get a prize at the end of the maze. A donation of canned food helps the Food Bank.
* Cecilia's Little Train: This kids-sized train scoots along Webster St. for a whole block and kids can ride for a nominal fee.
* The Shiny Fire Truck: Kids get a fire truck lesson (and maybe a tour!) from the Arvada Fire Protection District firemen.
* The Festival Booths: Lots of fun things to see, taste and buy at the array of community and food booths.
* The Olde Town Hayride: Ride the free tractor-drawn hay wagon around Olde Town.
*Fluffy-faced animals: Two yearling alpacas will delight all guests.
