Near Drowning of Toddler

Arvada Police responded to a call requesting first aid and possible drowning at Lake Arbor Village community pool located at 5705 W. 80th Place, Arvada on Monday, June 4, 2012.

This call involved a child, almost four years old, retrieved from the shallow area of the pool. CPR was performed by bystanders and the responding Arvada Police Officer.

The child was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.  The child was supervised at the pool by an adult family member.

Advice from Police

All parents and children must exercise care when visiting local pools because many do not have lifeguards.

Please be careful to watch small children closely, know the swimming ability of the child in your care, and use floatation devices where appropriate to prevent accidents.
