(Arvada) – The Arvada Police partnered with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, August 8, 2015 to perform a sobriety checkpoint at 55th & Wadsworth. The location was chosen due to the high number of DUI arrests made in the vicinity in recent months.
The checkpoint ran from approximately 7:30 p.m. until 2 a.m. on August 9. During that time, 1,814 cars passed through the checkpoint. Of those, 53 were identified for processing (some indicator of alcohol consumption) and 13 drivers were arrested for DUI.
“Arvada is committed to reducing the number of drunk drivers and alcohol-related accidents in our community,” said Commander Mark Nazaryk of the Arvada Police Department. “W
e are grateful for our partners at Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office; their support and joint dedication to traffic safety, accident reduction and our cooperative efforts towards eliminating alcohol related crashes.”
