(Arvada, CO) – Officer Jeffrey Hodgdon of the Arvada Police will be recognized as Officer of the Year by the Lake Arbor Optimists at a breakfast on Tuesday, January 28, 7:00 A.M. at Indian Tree Golf Club.
Hodgdon was nominated by his Sergeant for his work ethic, investigative instinct, teamwork, technological knowledge and commitment to professional service.
Hodgdon is one of the leaders in the police department for arrests and recovering stolen cars. In 2013, he recovered almost 30 stolen vehicles in Arvada. One victim of a motor vehicle theft wrote Chief Wick, stating “I received a call from Office
r Hodgdon telling me he had found the car. He was very patient, kind and professional in his call. He allowed me time to drive down and pick up the car. When I arrived he had already processed the car and then he helped me start it.”
In June 2013, Hodgdon discovered the suspects from a Lakewood car wash burglary. He recognized the suspects’ van from a crime bulletin, stopped the driver and linked the driver and the owner of the van to the burglaries. A Lakewood detective expressed his gratitude for Hodgdon’s assistance: “Without Officer Hodgdon’s help this case would still be currently ope
n and the suspect would still be unidentified.”
Hodgdon also possesses a wealth of knowledge about law enforcement technology that he uses to investigate criminal activity and suspects of crime. He not only uses the technology for his own investigations, but also helps his peers navigate the complex computer programs. In addition to being a technological guru, Hodgdon has a knack for collecting intelligence about criminals in Arvada. He has been a vital member of APD’s Tactical Information Group, providing crucial information about frequent criminal offenders.
“Officer Hodgdon is a great example of the level of service our officers provide to the community every day,” said Chief Wick. “We are delighted to see when they are recognized for their efforts.”
