12-Year-Old Injured in Auto Pedestrian Accident


Arvada Police continue to investigate an early morning auto pedestrian accident occurring at West 80th Avenue and Chase Street just before 8 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010.

A 12-year-old male was struck by the driver of a Ford Escape (a small SUV) as the juvenile attempted to cross 80th Avenue.

The North Arvada Middle School student was transported to Children's Hospital for treatment for injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. He was conscious when he left the scene. His name is not being released at this time.

The juvenile was struck by the 50-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape in the eastbound lanes of 80th Avenue, approximately 50 feet from the intersection.

Eastbound 80th Avenue was closed for an hour-and-a-half while officers investigated the accident scene.

No citations have been issued at this time, and the accident remains under investigation by police.
