(Arvada, CO) – In the most recent citywide survey of Arvada citizens, 95% of the community rated the quality of life in Arvada either good or very good.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of the 2011 survey of Arvada residents,” said Arvada City Manager Mark Deven. “The thoughts and opinions of the respondents are being carefully considered, and will be a critical tool in developing the direction for staff and the City Council in the coming years.”

This year marks the 16th iteration of the Arvada Citizen Survey. The City of Arvada contracted with the National Research Center in Boulder to survey 2,400 random citizens this past summer. In a snapshot of the results, citizens rated services provided by the City and City employees very high. There was also an overall satisfaction of the economy and the community as a whole.

Similar to recent survey years, a majority of citizens believe the City of Arvada is a great place to raise a child, has excellent access to City parks, quality drinking water and superior police and emergency services.

Many felt a need for improvements to streets in Arvada. Currently, City leaders are reviewing a budget proposal to increase funding for street repair by adding $2 million dollars of the one-time funding to the 2012 budget to augment existing funds.

Mass transit planning was rated as a highly important issue to those surveyed. Late in August, the City of Arvada along with the Regional Transportation District hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the Gold Line commuter rail that will be constructed in Arvada, which will dramatically change future transportation options for residents and visitors alike.
