Arvada Police arrested an Arvada High School assistant principal on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust for allegedly assaulting a female student at the school.
Anthony Alvarez, age 40, was arrested in the evening hours of Thursday, August 25, 2011, and was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he’s currently being held.
His first court appearance was slated for Friday morning.
Investigators are in the process of conducting the initial interviews related to the case.
Alvarez has been an assistant principal at Arvada High School since 2008 and has been with the district since 2000. He previously worked at Everitt Middle School in Wheat Ridge.
The school district has placed him on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
