Ralston Creek, formerly known as the Arvada Triangle, is part of the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority's Ralston Fields Urban Renewal Project. Long-time Arvada residents remember the Triangle Area (including the Arvada Plaza and Arvada Square shopping centers) as a once-thriving shopping and entertainment district, with a movie theater, two department stores, and grocery and specialty stores. Over the years, however, the area fell into decline and became an ideal candidate for urban renewal. The area is being redeveloped as “Ralston Creek.” Work has begun to redevelop the Arvada Plaza area, with Walmart slated to open in 2016. On the north side, a developer is pursuing a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly area with retail, residential, and commercial elements. Ralston Creek is anchored by the newly renovated Ralston-Central Park/Hoskinson Park on the east and the Stenger/Lutz Sports complex on the west.
