Arvada Police Partner with DEA to Collect Unused Medications

Arvada Police Partner with DEA to Collect Unused Medications

The Arvada Police Department has again teamed up with the Drug Enforcement Administration for a fall Drug Take Back event on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Arvada Police Department’s parking lot (8101 Ralston Rd.).

When over-the-counter or prescription medications are no longer needed they should be removed from the home. Many people believe that the best way to dispose of unused or expired medications is to flush them down the toilet. However, this pollutes our waterways and adversely affects wildlife and plant life along our streams and rivers.

The Drug Take Back program gives residents a safe way to dispose of these types of medication and participation is easy. Simply gather up your unused, unwanted and expired medications and bring them to the Arvada Police Department parking lot, where you can drive up, dispose and drive away.

Some of the items that can be collected include prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, pet medications or lotions. A complete list of items that can be collected  is available at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/.
