Your Rights as a Defendant

1.) To be represented by an attorney. 

2.) To a reasonable continuance.

3.) To a full explanation of the charges against you.

4.) To plead guilty or not guilty to the charges against you and to be  informed as to the legal effect of each.

5.) To make an oral explanation upon a plea of GUILTY. 

6.) To trial by the Court or by a Jury, if eligible.

7.) To be clothed with a Presumption of Innocence. 

8.) To present witnesses on your behalf and have them subpoenaed.

9.) T o cross-examine prosecution witnesses. 

10.) To testify or not to testify in your own behalf as you desire.

11.) To make oral explanation in mitigation if found guilty.

12.) To appeal this Court's conviction to a higher Court if you are found guilty at trial..
